Mari Maurstad
Mari took the drama course at Hartvig Nissen upper secondary school and since the year she left there has been on Norway's biggest theater stages. She made her first major role as Cordelia in Shakespeare's play King Lear at Den Nationale Scene in Bergen. Here she also played Pippi in Pippi Longstocking before becoming a permanent employee at the National Theater in 1981.
At the Nationaltheatret, she has produced such as Det lykkelige valg, Tolvskillingsoperaen, Rockeulven, Revisoren and Richard III.
We have also seen Mari in musicals such as Mary Poppins and Singin' in the Rain. For the latter, she received the Hedda prize for best supporting female role in 2008. She has also appeared on the stage of Den Norske Opera & Ballet as Anhilte in Czardasfyrstinnen - and most recently in the performance Evig Ung på Chat Noir, which the reviewers gave top marks.
On screen, she has, among other things, done Drømmeslottet by the iconic Wam & Vennerød and Sophie , directed by Liv Ullmann. Sophie received the Jury Prize at the Montreal World Film Festival in 1992. More recently, Mari has made films such as Tina & Bettina- The Movie, the short film Menneskets beste venn and Gratulerer med dagen!
Mari has also done several of the voices in the Donald universe and published books and CDs.
